PDN Magazine ‘Faces’ Winner

My image of Dora Magueño Machaca, from my ‘Cholitas Escaladoras’ series, is a winner in this years ‘Faces’ competition for PDN magazine.

Dora has summited Huayna Potosi mountain (the peak in the background) roughly 11 or 12 times. Basically more times than she could remember when I asked her.

She climbs along with her daughter Ana Lía Gonzales Magueño. They said when they are in the mountains together, they aren’t just mother and daughter. They’re best friends.
