Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize
The Taylor Wessing Portriat Prize opens today at the National Portrait Gallery. And my portrait ‘Generations’ from my ‘Buzkashi’ project is one of the 54 images that were selected from nearly 6000 entries from 51 countries!
Buzkashi is often described as the world’s most brutal sport. Hundreds of horsemen battling it out in a dust storm of hooves. But what drew me in were the moments in between, when the riders strip back the armour of competition and just exist as fathers, brothers, sons, and friends.
This portrait is one of those moments of pause… In contrast to the BTS image below of me coming to the firm realisation that horses can indeed run very fast and my timing might be less than impeccable. https://toddantony.com/portfolio/buzkashi/
